The Texas A&M Aggies could be getting an early Christmas present out of the transfer portal after latest intel
The Texas A&M Aggies could be on the verge of adding explosive superstar wide receiver Jayce Brown.
The Texas A&M Aggies are set to undergo a lot of turnover on both sides of the ball heading into the 2026 season, with new coordinators and position coaches across the team, as well as a slew of departures, particularly on their offensive line.
However, with a new offseason comes the transfer portal, and the Aggies have been tremendous adding talent out of the portal under head coach Mike Elko. Several players like KC Concepcion, Mario Craver, Tyler Onyedim, Will Lee III, and Cashius Howell have been tremendous transfer additions for A&M, and they’re set to pursue even more talented options out of the portal this cycle.
Even though the portal isn’t officially open yet, the Aggies are already projected to be in the lead for an elite playmaker who would help keep their offense on top heading into next season.
A new elite playmaker to watch for Texas A&M’s offense
On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Texas A&M is the primary school to watch for highly-touted Kansas State transfer wide receiver Jayce Brown. Brown, a third-team All-Big 12 player this season, has posted over 2,000 scrimmage yards in his career, and has been an electric player for the Wildcats in his career.
I reached out to A to Z Sports NFL Draft analyst Ryan Roberts for some film insights on Brown:
“There were some on the NFL side who expected Brown to enter the 2026 NFL Draft, but his grades were a bit all over the place, deciding instead to go back to school for another year. As an athlete, Brown is an incredibly smooth accelerator who threatens vertically in a flash. Brown has spent a lot of time as a slot receiver during his career, which helps to hide his below average play strength. Brown’s ability to get up to top speed is impressive, having the long speed to consistently make plays down the field. Kansas State also utilized Brown in jet sweeps and end arounds during his career, showing good field positions to create explosives on the ground. You can be very creative with Brown, profiling as the perfect modern space player in the spread game.” – Roberts
Pairing Brown with Mario Craver, who has already signed a deal to return to the Aggies for next season, would keep A&M’s offense just as explosive as it was this past season. A&M was 91st percentile in EPA/Pass this past season, but will have to replace KC Concepcion, who declared for the 2026 NFL Draft this week. A&M will have to get creative with both Craver and Brown as primarily slot receivers, but that’s a luxury they would love to have.
With Craver and Ashton Bethel-Roman returning alongside a potential addition of Brown, the Texas A&M offense should continue to keep rolling, much like it did this past season.
