Okay, fine. I'll do it. Dak Prescott convinced me to write about it. You see, I was avoiding writing about the fabricated storyline that tries to depict the Dallas Cowboys quarterback as having some sort of beef with teammate cornerback Trevon Diggs. But Dak's response on TV is perfect to describe how dumb of a story the national media wants to make it out to be.

In a recent clip from training camp, Diggs is shown talking trash to Prescott and telling him "Shut your b—h a-s up!" The cornerback had just reincorporated back into practice and the defense had stopped Prescott short of the first down marker.

This has been enough for many, like former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky, to say all kinds of wild stuff. Orlovsky suggested he was worried about what he's hearing out of Dallas while McCoy tried to make it seem as if such an exchange was unheard of in a sport that literally mics up its players to show those moments to the audience.

Never mind that this happens every single year on pretty much every camp. Has everyone forgotten about Peyton Manning's offensive line shouting at him to "go sit down!" during a game? Heck, just last year Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was swinging, not talking, at a teammate.

"Sometimes, it's necessary," said Allen a year ago. "Good teammates sometimes fight. Guys want it so bad, guys are very competitive. If you saw tempers flare again today, that's all because we want to win."

The thing is McCoy, Orlovsky, and every one of those guys on "hot take" type TV shows say stuff they don't even really believe. They're just trying to generate reach and engagement by opining on controversial topics. This is a non-story in every way imaginable.

And yet, here I am typing about it because Prescott's response on TV was perfect to illustrate how silly the narrative is. Asked on Fox 4 about the incident, the Cowboys quarterback can't help showing a wide smile before the question is even done.

"Yeah, very healthy banter between two teammates," Prescott said. "I'm just glad the things that I always say maybe weren't on social media for the people that don't understand that to take it the wrong way."

Perhaps we couldn't hear what he said in a recent practice but he clearly trash-talked second-year safety Markquese Bell after running for a first down.

"(Trevon Diggs) is a guy that I spend a lot of time with, we're always going back and forth," the Cowboys quarterback added. "When you compete at a high level you almost have to expect that."

Nothing to see here, y'all.
