The Dallas Cowboys won’t be playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday, unfortunately. But Cowboys Nation is already thinking about ways the front office can improve the team via free agency.
In a previous article, I listed two players from the Kansas City Chiefs that the Cowboys should target as free agents. You can check that out over here.
But now, let’s take a quick look at two players from the Philadelphia Eagles that the Cowboys could target this offseason. While there's no bigger rival for the Cowboys, it wouldn't hurt to add some talent while simultaneously subtracting from theirs.
The two players below are guys that could come available and could be looked at as realistic free-agent targets, especially if the front office takes the same all-in approach to roster building as they have with the coaching staff after parting ways with OC Kellen Moore.
1. OG Isaac Seumalo
This one would be a fun one. The Cowboys have multiple options to configure their OL next season but if they want to move on with Tyler Smith at LT (in a scenario in which they feel ready to move on from Tyron), then guard is certainly a need. Connor McGovern could leave in free agency plus the position could be upgraded even if he doesn't.
Seumalo played as RG this season in the league's best offensive line but had spent his career primarily on the left side before that.
He's physical and nasty in the trenches and is a huge reason why the Eagles' screen game is so effective. If the Eagles let him become a free agent in March, he's going to be one of the best OL in the market.
Spotrac calculated market value: $12M per year.
2. DT Fletcher Cox
The Cowboys and Fletcher Cox have been linked together before and if he becomes a free agent, expect it to happen again.
The Cowboys' defense has become one of the league's best since the arrival of Dan Quinn and Micah Parsons. But adding a dominant three-technique defensive tackle like Cox could take it to a whole other level.
It would open up so many avenues for the Cowboys' edge rushers DeMarcus Lawrence and Parsons as he'd dictate much of what the opposing pass protection unit does.
Spotrac calculated market value: N/A but he signed for $14M last season.
