The Dallas Cowboys' final practice prior to the preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars featured an injury that required the cart to come out for offensive lineman Chuma Edoga.

The injury happened during a play where Edoga, lined up at left guard, appears to already be hurt before going to the ground when hit in the left leg by linebacker Jabril Cox. While the hit might appear to be what injured the lineman, Edoga is hobbling before and grabs his right knee when on the ground.

Edoga would later be carted off the field in Oxnard, California, via Michael Gehlken from Dallas Morning News. Per The Athletic's Saad Yousuf, Edoga "couldn’t put any weight on it, did not look good."

UPDATED Thursday 3 pm CT: Michael Gehlken reported Edoga hyperextended his right knee.

A former third-round draft pick, Edoga is entering his fifth year in the NFL. He signed with the Cowboys early in the offseason after the franchise reportedly eyed him as a potential trade target during the 2022 preseason.

While not a projected starter, the veteran was lining up just about everywhere for the Cowboys in training camp and is considered a lock to make the 53-man roster. He's competing for the swing tackle and swing guard job. Edoga spent time at both left and tackle on both sides of the football. And even though Micah Parsons had an evil way of welcoming him into the team, he was proving highly serviceable for the offense.

While the Cowboys' projected lineup in the trenches features a solid group of starters, the team suffers from a lack of significant depth. If Edoga's injury turns out to be serious, it will be a huge blow to the unit. Here's hoping it isn't as serious as the cart would suggest.
