That was ugly. The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Kansas Chiefs 19 to 9 on Sunday afternoon. A game that was billed to be a game of the year candidate and a high-scoring affair was anything but that.

Instead, it was two offenses that could not get anything going. The Chiefs, in particular, controlled and set the tone for the game. Kansas City won the battle at the line of scrimmage on both sides. Dallas had no answer — especially on the offensive side.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones completely took over the game on Sunday. Jones dominated the Cowboys offensive line and was living in the backfield all game long. The Chiefs' defender was credited with 3.5 sacks, two tackles-for-loss, and a fumble recovery. Those stats don't even paint the clear picture.

We highlighted last week that Jones had the ability to blow up a game plan. He did exactly that — and then some. Chris Jones had his way with Dallas, and the Cowboys could not do anything about it.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY FOR DAK, COWBOYS

Sunday provided a big opportunity for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. A national game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs set the stage for Prescott to have an MVP moment and the Cowboys to establish themselves as the team to beat.

Instead, Dallas missed out in a big way. Despite the defense playing well enough to win, the offense failed to get anything going.

Some of that blame goes on Prescott. He missed some throws and looked to be too amped up in the early stages. The overthrow to Michael Gallup on the first play from scrimmage hurt. As did the underthrow to CeeDee Lamb in the end zone that resulted in an interception right before halftime.

The blame also goes to the offensive line. Prescott rarely had time to read the defense and make accurate passes. Jones, Frank Clark, and the Chiefs defense feasted on the Dallas offensive line all game long. The passing game had no life, and run game was shut down.

Dallas laid an egg in a big game. It is simple as that. There are very, very few positive things to take away from this game — especially on the offensive side.

The Cowboys must put this game behind them and move on fast. A short week with a matchup against another AFC West team is right around the corner, as Dallas takes on the Las Vegas Raiders on Thanksgiving Day. Dallas cannot afford let this loss turn into another.

To make matters worse, the Cowboys will be without wide receivers Amari Cooper and (likely) CeeDee Lamb on Thursday. The Cowboys did not respond well to missing key players versus Kansas City. Perhaps playing at home will result in a better outcome.
