The Denver Broncos were hit with one of the nastier injury bugs across the entire NFL last season. The unfortunate trend has continued with the latest update from camp.
Parker Gabriel reported that S P.J. Locke suffered an apparent left leg injury and was loaded onto a cart and taken to the locker room. While the injury is unclear, this is another wave of devastating injuries for the organization
WR Tim Patrick was lost for the season with a torn achilles which was followed up with LB Jonas Griffith also being lost for the season with a torn ACL. Tie in the injury to Mike McGlinchey and now add Gabriel to the mix.
The Broncos' defense, outside of the question marks on the defensive line, are a formidable unit and can be a real difference-maker on gameday. Losing a depth piece trying to fight for more playing time is undoubtedly going to hurt.
Locke was picked up by the Broncos in 2019 where he spent most of his time being re-signed by the team after being delegated to the practice squad. Locke has been active in 47 games for the Broncos with 1 pass defended and two force fumbles to go along with 3 combined tackles.
The 26-year-old was pushing for more playing time in an absolutely loaded secondary and was showing some flashes during camp. While he was more of a depth piece, he still had high hopes for this season. His injury will allow rookie JL Skinner to step up and show the organization what he's made out of.
Do whatever it takes to stay healthy, you can't have important pieces of the team keep going down in a devastating fashion like this. Here's hoping it is nothing serious he can be back on the field in no time.

The Denver Broncos made national headlines with their most recent roster decision. For now, we finally have some answers. That could change quickly.
