Lions defense puts up highlights during first day with pads
The first day in pads is always a significant day. It's like letting out 90 one year old dogs out of their cage. Everyone is hyper and full of excitement and everyone is going to run their hearts out with an exuberance you just can't believe. I should know, I have a one year old […]
The first day in pads is always a significant day. It's like letting out 90 one year old dogs out of their cage. Everyone is hyper and full of excitement and everyone is going to run their hearts out with an exuberance you just can't believe. I should know, I have a one year old dog right now and she's insane.
The Detroit Lions were a lot like that on Friday. The pads are on and everyone is super excited to be throwing live rounds and show what they can do. When that happens, two things are going to accompanying it. They're going to wear themselves out and they're going to create some highlights.
Both of those things happened on Friday. Here's some highlights that hit on social media.
Jack Campbell forces a fumble
First up, the rookies did some big things on Friday. 18th overall pick Jack Campbell showed his speed and show that he can punch the ball out. Craig Reynolds caught a pass and Campell came out of nowhere and not only forced the running back to fumble, but also recovered the ball.
Brian Branch has the speed
During episode three of Inside the Den, Lions coach Dan Campbell said that he believed that Alabama safety Brian Branch was one of the best defensive players in the entire draft. On Friday he showed it multiple times.
Here he is putting up pass break up against the speedy Kalif Raymond and then putting up another one on Josh Reynolds. You love to see it.
Rodrigo!
Malcolm Rodriguez was one of the big stars around the league last summer after everyone fell in love with the cowboy on Hard Knocks. There's no HBO show this year, but he's still doing things that make you fall in love with him. Here is he is picking off Nate Sudfeld's attempt to pass it to James Mitchell. He jumps the route beautifully.
