The Detroit Lions have place edge rusher Julian Okwara on the injured reserve list.
Because the Lions added both to the injured reserve list on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, both will now be out for four weeks instead of the entire season. They'll be eligible to come back to the team when they play the Panthers in Week 5. Coincidentally, that's the team Okwara got hurt against.
Okwara heading to the injured reserve list opens up a roster spot for the Lions. This could be where the Lions bring in a third running back. The team signed former Jets running back Zonovan Knight on Wednesday. He could move up from the practice squad to this role.
Another belief was that Craig Reynolds could be making his return to the team and his release was merely some maneuvering on the Lions part. Turns out that's exactly what happened.
That would make sense since Reynolds was owed no dead money when the Lions released him. Meaning that they could move him off the roster at no cost with the understanding that they'll just be bringing him back.
