Anthony Richardson was one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft class thanks to his unique talent and exciting potential. It was the Indianapolis Colts that added him to their roster on Thursday night.
There's a lot to like about what Richardson brings to the table. He's a toolsy signal caller that makes incredible plays as a passer and rusher. His upside is through the roof and his fit with Shane Steichen makes a ton of sense.
Richardson arrives to the Colts with lofty goals in his mind. He made that clear in his press conference after the first-round. The Florida product believes that he and the Colts can accomplish some big things together.
He explained that he is bringing energy to the Colts. Richardson plans to set an example in the locker room with his work ethic. But maybe more importantly, he wants to bring a Super Bowl back to Indianapolis.
“I am going to bring energy," said Richardson. "I am going to bring hard work. God willing – I’m going to bring a Super Bowl.”
The first-round draft pick did not wait very long to set the bar high. While there is work for the Colts and Richardson to do in order to accomplish that goal, Richardson is confident in his abilities.
"I'm willing to be just as good or if not better than all these quarterbacks in the draft or all the quarterbacks in the league," Richardson confidently stated. "That’s why I feel like I’m one of the greatest.”
It's clear that Richardson is not afraid of the spotlight or the expectations that come with being the face of the franchise at the quarterback position. In fact, he explained that he doesn't real feel pressure.
“I feel like I’ve been dealing with pressure my whole life," Richardson said. "Pressure is only hard if you’re not prepared, so I’m going to make sure I’m prepared to the best of my ability so I can make things work for this franchise.”
Anthony Richardson seems to be ready for his moment, and the Indianapolis Colts could be rewarded handsomely because of it. It's officially a new era for the franchise.
