Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles made some big news on Monday. News that can certainly be viewed as an encouraging sign for the Indianapolis Colts leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft.

Hurts signed a mega five-year, $255 million deal with the Eagles, becoming the highest-paid player in NFL history. Hurts has quickly developed from a second-round backup into an MVP candidate.

Shane Steichen is where the Colts factor into this. Steichen, who took over head coaching duties in Indianapolis shortly after the Super Bowl, served as the offensive coordinator the past two seasons with the Eagles. He had a direct hand in Hurts' ascension behind center.

Steichen helped engineer one of the best offenses in the league as offensive coordinator in Philadelphia and "played an integral role in the growth of Jalen Hurts", per the Eagles' official website.

His offense is at its best with a dynamic quarterback that puts stress on defenses on the ground and through the air. As the league saw with Hurts, Steichen is a creative offensive mind that puts his quarterback in positions to succeed.

"It's going to look differently each week," Steichen said during his introductory press conference about his offense. "But my philosophy is we're gonna throw to score points in this league and run to win."

Steichen's success with Hurts is great sign for Indianapolis as the franchise prepares to take its quarterback of the future in just over a week. CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis have all been linked to the team leading up to the first-round.

If Steichen's work with the now highest-paid player in the league is any indication, the Colts will be in good hands at the most important position on the team moving forward.
