Top 3 Free Agents for the Colts

1. Justin Simmons, S
The number one player that the Colts need to consider signing is former Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons. Every player on this list has played at a high level, but Simmons is the only one who hasn't taken a significant step back in recent years. I think the main reason he is still a free agent is that he wants to be paid more than the typical free agency signing that occurs this late into free agency. But the Colts need at FS is massive, and Simmons would help raise both the floor and ceiling of the Colts secondary. And I think he's worth paying significantly more than the other free agents I have listed below.
2. Quandre Diggs, S
If the Colts don't want to pay the price tag that likely comes with a player of Simmons' caliber, then I think Quandre Diggs is another excellent option. Over the past two seasons, Diggs has noticeably taken a step back as a player, but he would still be a massive upgrade from the Colts' current options at FS. He also has a preexisting relationship with Colts CB Kenny Moore II. So, I think he'd have an easy time getting acquainted with the locker room. And his knack for making plays around the ball would be a big win for the Colts defense.
3. Xavien Howard, CB
I think the best position for the Colts to address in free agency is at safety. But if they chose to go a different route, former Miami Dolphins CB Xavien Howard. Howard, like Diggs, has noticeably taken a step back as a player. But the Colts' heavy zone scheme has seen multiple veteran CBs find success after a down season. Two that come to mind are Xavier Rhdoes and Stephon Gilmore, and Howard would make a lot of sense to be the next. The Colts' young CB room has plenty of upsides, but adding a veteran like Howard can help the team avoid the bumps we saw last season and stabilize the current play without forfeiting the chance to develop their young CBs for the future.
The Colts have a secret weapon up their sleeve that many around the NFL have forgotten about
The Indianapolis Colts are expected to have more firepower on the offensive side of the ball this season. With second-year QB Anthony Richardson back under center fully recovered from his shoulder injury last season. As well as the addition of their 2024 2nd-round pick, Adonai Mitchell. But there's one more player who didn't play a […]
