The Indianapolis Colts joined the win collum and avoided the dreaded 0-2 start.
They defeated the Houston Texans 31-20 in their first road game of the season.
Colts Offense:
The Colts were in control of this game from the very beginning, as they were able to score touchdowns on both their opening drives. Both touchdowns came from the legs of Anthony Richardson. The second one would be costly, though, as the QBs head would bounce off the ground, leading him to suffer a concussion which would end his day shortly after.
While they would lose their starting QB, backup Gardner Minshew was able to come in and lead the offense effectively and would help lead the team to their first win of the season. The team also received a significant boost in the run game this week as Zack Moss made his season debut and was able to rush for 88 yards on the day. This more than triples the entire production the RB room totaled in their Week 1 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars (25 yards).
Colts Defense:
The Colts defense put together another strong performance this week. Early on allowed the team to get up to a 21-point lead before going conservative in the 2nd half. And when it appeared the Texans were going to make a comeback, they were able to shut the door with their defensive line that was impressive all day long as the team would end the day with six sacks on the Texans QB CJ Stroud.
The secondary was troublesome in this one, especially starter Darrell Baker Jr., who found himself consistently beaten on the day. Allowing multiple big plays as well to WR Nico Collins. Going forward, the team will have to get better performances from the group if they want to slow down the high-powered offenses in the NFL.
