Do you feel that?
Yep. It’s the rush of adrenaline still running through your veins. The same rush of adrenaline that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave all of us on Sundays night.
Well, maybe not Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans. But I digress.
What we saw in the Chiefs’ 41-31 win was not just quintessential Mahomes – it was a fiery, uber-confident, and downright scary Mahomes.
I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t watched every single game of the former NFL MVP’s career. But I’ve watched a lot of them.
And I’ve never seen the fire in his eyes nor the determination I’ve seen in his eyes last night.
And I’ve never, ever felt the murderous vibes that were put into the atmosphere that night.
Patrick Mahomes wanted the Buccaneers’ blood. And he got every single drop
“I talked to the guys, like I mentioned last night, just don’t take it for granted,” head coach Andy Reid said regarding Mahomes’ play. “These things are special, some of these things we’re seeing from him, so appreciate them but it’s unique so enjoy every one of them, but it’s not something that a lot of people have that advantage of being a part of. With that, I mean that throw was incredible.
“He had a very good game and I know the stats show that and some of the things he’s done historically have made history and (he) will continue to do that.”
It’s hard to argue against Mahomes as the NFL’s best quarterback. Josh Allen poses the biggest threat to the title and Tom Brady is still in the mix, but Mahomes just has something both quarterbacks don’t.
And he also showed a side of him on Sunday night that not many quarterbacks in the entire history of the NFL has shown.
If he plays with that fire for the rest of the season in the NFL is in deep, deep trouble.
