The Alabama Crimson Tide appear to be a legitimate threat to steal a key recruit from the Tennessee Vols.
2024 four-star wide receiver Amari Jefferson is one of the most coveted recruits in the nation.
Jefferson, 6-foot-1/195 lbs from Chattanooga, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 23 athlete in the nation and the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee.
In addition to playing football, Jefferson is also a standout baseball player. In fact, the talented recruit committed to Tennessee for baseball in early 2021, though that commitment is not binding (and essentially means nothing at this point).
Tennessee is primarily battling Alabama and Georgia for Jefferson.
The Tennessee native took a visit to Alabama this past weekend which reportedly went extremely well.
“My official to Bama has been amazing,” said Jefferson to 247Sports. “Coach Saban has been around me a ton, which was unexpected. He and Mrs. Saban have been connecting with my parents a lot. That is important that my parents feel good about the school I choose to attend.”
“We are very excited about our relationship moving forward," added Jefferson.
Jefferson will visit Georgia next weekend before taking a visit to Tennessee on June 23.
It's unclear when Jefferson will announce his commitment, though it's certainly possible that it could happen later this summer.
The Vols currently have 11 players committed to their 2024 recruiting class which is ranked No. 10 in the nation.
