ESPN's Football Power Index has been high on the Tennessee Vols this season even before it began. Now, it is giving even more respect to head coach Josh Heupel and the Vols. Their win over Ball State was extremely convincing. They'll look to build on it next week.
The ranking system now has the Vols as the #10 team in the nation. Behind QB Hendon Hooker, the Vols look to have one of the best offenses in the SEC.
The Vols are one of three SEC teams in the FPI's top ten. Alabama and Georgia are the only two ahead of the Vols as of now. There are nine teams from the conference in their top 25.
Tennessee must stay hungry going forward, though. The Vols need to continue to get convincing wins in their out of conference games and start conference play strong. That starts next week against a ranked Pittsburgh Panthers team. Pittsburgh is coming off a thrilling win against West Virginia.
The Vols will look to get payback for their close loss to Pittsburgh last season.
Tennessee will probably get a good amount of respect across the board in this week's polls. Their ranking from the FPI may be the best of the bunch, though.
