ESPN thinks a veteran player is in danger of being released by the Tennessee Titans before the start of the 2022 season.

Turron Davenport, who covers the Titans for ESPN, suggested this week that running back Jordan Wilkins could be cut this summer.

From ESPN:

Wilkins signed with the Titans in hopes of locking down the backup role to Derrick Henry after D'Onta Foreman inked with the Panthers. But Tennessee has a logjam at running back, with Dontrell Hilliard, Hassan Haskins and Trenton Cannon as the favorites to land roster spots. Wilkins doesn't have the special teams prowess Cannon has and isn't the same threat out of the backfield as Hilliard. Haskins is a big back who brings physicality when Henry isn't on the field and is a natural pass-catcher. Wilkins needs to have an outstanding training camp to win a roster spot.

It certainly sounds like it could be an uphill battle for Wilkins to make the roster.

The former Ole Miss standout has mostly been a change of pace running back during his first few years in the NFL. Considering the Titans' depth, he'll likely have to look elsewhere for employment in 2022 — unless there's an injury to a Tennessee running back.

One thing that could work in Wilkins' favor is the fact that he played a little over three years under Frank Reich with the Indianapolis Colts. He could always offer some insight into the Colts' offense, though it seems unlikely that the Titans would keep him over other options because of that.
