A former Florida Gators head coach isn't as high on the Tennessee Vols as a lot of other folks are entering the 2023 season.

Former Florida head coach Dan Mullen, who was fired after the 2021 season despite winning the SEC East the previous season, revealed his preseason top 25 on Monday morning.

Mullen has Tennessee at No. 14 with Georgia at No. 1, Alabama at No. 5 and LSU at No. 6.

Arkansas at No. 21 and Ole Miss at No. 24 are the other SEC teams in Mullen's top 25.

Tennessee is ranked No. 10 in the preseason coaches poll and No. 12 in the preseason AP poll.

Mullen is a bit lower on the Vols than most national folks. And that's a bit of a surprise coming from a man that sang "Rocky Top" on national television last year.

Maybe Mullen's still sour about the Vols' win over the Gators last season (Mullen still has a lot of connections in Gainesville). Or maybe he's just not a believer in Joe Milton. Whatever the case, it's clear that Mullen isn't expecting Tennessee to be a title contender in 2023.
