A former Tennessee Titans head coach wants to get back into coaching in the NFL.
And no, we're not talking about Jeff Fisher.
In the time between Fisher and current head coach Mike Vrabel, the Titans had three head coaches.
Mike Munchak, the Titans' head coach from 2011 to 2013 (he immediately followed Fisher), said during an appearance on 93.7 The Fan's Cook & Joe Show on Thursday that he'd like to return to coaching in the NFL soon.
"I definitely would, finding something that would work out, the right fit, I would love to continue coaching possibly next year," said Munchak.
The former Titans head coach last coached in the NFL in 2021 when he served as the Denver Broncos' offensive line coach. Munchak was the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive line coach from 2014 to 2018 (his first job after he was fired by the Titans).
Munchak didn't coach at all in 2022 as he underwent knee replacement surgeries that he had been putting off.
Munchak, a former first-round draft pick out of Penn State, had the opportunity to stick around for another season in Nashville in 2014. But he refused to make the staffing changes that the front office requested.
"I can't fire someone when I don't believe they should be fired. Firing someone is awful. Too many people were going to be affected,'' said Munchak in early 2014 to The Tennessean.
Munchak has a reputation as a great offensive line coach. He shouldn't have any issues finding a job as an assistant after the 2023 season.
