Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt may have landed in a perfect situation in the NFL.

Hyatt, the 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner, was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.

The South Carolina native will join an offense that's desperately in need of some explosive plays.

And Hyatt can certainly deliver in that area.

The Giants finished dead last in the NFL in 2022 with just 28 plays of 20 yards or more.

New York's lack of explosive plays is something that offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is looking to change in 2023.

"You want that (explosive plays) to be a part of your offense," said Kafka this week. "Any area, whether it's the protection side of it, whether it's the decision making, the routes, the concepts, the scheme, you look at all that stuff."

"I think that's one thing we kind of did a deep dive on is how can we whether improve it to get some more of those opportunities or personnel to get the right people in the right spots," added Kafka.

The Giants are hoping that Hyatt, one of the most explosive playmakers in college football in 2022, can help provide some of those explosive plays this fall.

So far, Hyatt is impressing the coaching staff while continuing to grow as a player.

"Jalin is doing a nice job," explained Kafka. "He's right on schedule. He's working. He's growing. That's one thing you've seen from him from the first day in rookie camp to the next day, then you're working through this Phase III part of it, is his growth and his familiarity and comfortability with the offense."

One of the worst things that can happen to a promising young player is to end up in a situation where the team doesn't know how to utilize the player's skillset.

Fortunately for Hyatt, it sounds like he landed in a situation that specifically calls for his skillset. He could be in line for a big offensive role with the Giants in 2023.
