When Jeremy Pruitt was the Tennessee Vols' head football coach, he made a remark that caused him some ridicule.

In early 2020, after Tennessee's thrilling 23-22 comeback win against the Indiana Hoosiers in the Gator Bowl, Pruitt told his players that the 2020s would be the "decade of the Vols".

Here's the video of Pruitt addressing the Vols after the win against Indiana (Pruitt's "decade of the Vols" comment happens at around the 2:40 mark of the video).

Unfortunately for Pruitt, the Vols went 3-7 during the COVID-impacted 2020 season. Pruitt was fired due to a recruiting scandal that has still yet to be settled by the NCAA. And his "decade of the Vols" comment was instantly mocked by opposing fan bases.

But aside from that rocky season for the football team in 2020, Pruitt has been right about the 2020s being the decade of the Vols.

Tennessee is the first program since 1998 to win a New Year's Six/BCS bowl game, advance to the Men's and Women's Sweet 16, and advance to the Men's and Women's College World Series all in the same academic year.

Just because Pruitt isn't part of Tennessee's current success doesn't mean he was wrong. This decade has been pretty good to the Volunteers so far and the program isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
