For the second time in the last three years, the Tennessee Vols are heading to Omaha for the College World Series.
Tennessee was the final team to punch its ticket to Omaha, thanks to a 5-0 win over Southern Mississippi that ended around 1:00 AM ET on Tuesday morning.
The Vols won the final two games of the Hattiesburg Super Regional after dropping Game One by a score of 5-3.
Tennessee will face LSU on Saturday night at 7:00 PM ET in Omaha. The Vols went 1-2 against the Tigers in Baton Rouge earlier this season, losing 5-2 and 6-4 before leaving Louisiana with a 14-7 win to salvage the three-game series.
If Tennessee is going to win its first College World Series, they'll need some solid outings from MLB draft prospect Chase Dollander.
Dollander was actually named by 247Sports as one of the 10 most important players in this year's College World Series.
From 247Sports: While certainly potent, Tennessee has a bunch of free swingers in its lineup, which makes the Volunteers' starting pitching paramount in Omaha. Drew Beam just won his ninth game of the season on Monday night at Southern Miss in the Super Regional-clinching victory as Tennessee blanked the Golden Eagles. In Saturday's CWS opener against LSU, it's likely Andrew Lindsey or Chase Dollander will get the nod on the bump. Dollander (7-6) has only went past six innings of work twice over his last seven starts, but has nasty stuff. Tennessee could use a solid performance out of him the first time out in Omaha to avoid its back against the wall early.
Dollander pitched a season-high eight innings in the Vols' win against Southern Miss in Game Two of the Hattiesburg Super Regional. Tennessee will need a similar performance from the Georgia native if they're going to advance in Omaha.
