At one point last week, it looked like the Tennessee Vols were destined to make a key transfer addition.
But it appears that ship has sailed.
Ole Miss transfer cornerback Davison Igbinosun was trending toward Tennessee, but after taking several visits over the last few days, it seems that the Vols have faded away in the battle for the talented defensive back.
Igbinosun visited UCLA, Michigan, and Ohio State over the past week.
And after those visits, it's the Buckeyes that appear to be the winner of the Igbinosun sweepstakes as numerous recruiting analysts have started predicting that the former Ole Miss cornerback will be heading to Columbus.
If Igbinosun does indeed land at Ohio State, it'll be a tough miss for the Vols. Igbinosun is definitely a player that could've helped Tennessee in 2023. He likely would've been an instant starter at cornerback.
The good news for Tennessee, though, is that more defensive back options should hit the transfer portal in May (when the portal opens again). If the Vols still feel like they need another defensive back after spring practice, they should have some options to consider.
