The Tennessee Vols appear to be in good shape at wide receiver with Ramel Keyton, Bru McCoy, Dont'e Thornton, and Squirrel White holding down the top four spots on the depth chart.

In addition to the four wide receivers that were mentioned, the Vols also have some promising young wide receivers such as true freshman Nathan Leacock and redshirt freshmen Chas Nimrod and Kaleb Webb.

Despite the abundance of riches at the wide receiver position, it looks like Tennessee is still looking to add another wide receiver to the roster this summer.

On Wednesday, former four-star wide receiver Jordan Anthony tweeted that he received an offer from the Vols.

Anthony will be a redshirt freshman this fall after spending the 2022 season with the Kentucky Wildcats. The Mississippi native entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this week.

Anthony, who also ran track at Kentucky, entered the portal after appearing in only two games for the Wildcats last season.

According to 247Sports, Anthony would likely need a waiver to suit up for an SEC program in 2023 because the February 1 deadline for intraconference transfers has already passed. The NCAA spring portal window has also passed, which could be problematic for Anthony if he hopes to become eligible this fall.

Anthony, however, tweeted that he'll be eligible this fall, despite the previously stated transfer guidelines.

Anthony is only 5-foot-9, but he has plenty of speed. He would seemingly be a great fit in Tennessee's up-tempo offense that loves to take vertical shots.

The Vols will likely lose McCoy, Keyton, and Thornton after the 2023 season, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to add some depth for the 2024 season. If that's what Tennessee has in mind, then it makes perfect sense why the Vols offered Anthony. But if they're hoping he can play in 2023, then this offer is a bit of a headscratcher considering how crowded the top of the depth chart is right now for the Vols.
