The Tennessee Vols have a true freshman that could be a major problem for opposing defenses in the SEC.

Four-star athlete Cam Seldon signed with Tennessee this past December as the No. 76 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.

Seldon, 6-foot-1/210 lbs from Heathsville, VA, was rated as the No. 3 athlete in the nation.

The Virginia native is an athletic freak who can be used in a number of different ways.

Tennessee, in fact, isn't even sure how they're going to use Seldon yet.

Vols offensive coordinator Joey Halzle was asked this week about Seldon and how Tennessee plans to use him in 2023.

Halzle made it clear that the Vols are excited about Seldon's potential and they're still trying to figure out how to use him in their offense.

"He gives you a chance to do some really fun stuff," said Halzle during a media session with reporters this week. "Obviously, with a young guy that's his first time in the building, you got to be careful to not bog somebody down and overload them with everything you could do. You got to get him good at one thing first."

"Where he ends up starting out, as we get through our pre-spring stuff before we get on the field for spring ball we'll make that decision more definitive as we roll based on what he can handle, what he does well, what he doesn't do well. Then once he gets one thing cemented — okay he's really good at this — now you can start growing a guy like that's extra roles. Really whatever they can handle, starting at a young age and moving on through his time throughout the program."

Josh Heupel and his offensive staff love finding mismatches and exploiting them — it's one of the main facets of Tennessee's offense.

Seldon is a player that will allow the Vols to find mismatches in a myriad of different ways. Whether that's splitting Seldon out wide and getting him on a linebacker or perhaps running reverses from a wide split. Or maybe they use him as someone who can catch the ball out of the backfield while lined up as a running back.

Whatever the case, this is a player that's a dream fit in Heupel's offense. And I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of him as a true freshman in 2023.
