NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans may dodge a bullet for the second straight week by avoiding one of their opponent's best offensive weapons.

Last week in New Orleans, the Saints were without star running back Alvin Kamara after Kamara was suspended for three games by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

This week, the Los Angeles Chargers could be without star running back Austin Ekeler, who has not practiced all week due to an ankle injury. Ekeler was then listed as doubtful on the Chargers’ final injury report.

If Ekeler is unavailable, I’ll be really interested in seeing what the game plan is from Chargers’ offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Moore is in his first season with LA and clearly shifted his team’s offensive identity in Week 1 against the Dolphins. The Chargers ran the ball 40 times for 233 yards in a loss to Miami, but were productive as an offense, scoring 34 points in the game.

16 of those carries went to Ekeler. 16 went to Joshua Kelley, who will be the starting back on Sunday against a very strong Titans’ run defense. Given the matchup with Tennessee and Ekeler's injury status, is it possible the Chargers move away from the run and let Justin Herbert air it out on Sunday?

Ekeler’s injury situation is significant and absolutely worth monitoring on game day. If the Titans are able to avoid both Kamara and Ekeler, two matchup nightmares, in the first two games of the season, it would be huge.
