Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks is feeling better than ever entering his second NFL season, and the 2022 first-round draft pick looks primed for a breakout campaign in 2023.

Now knowing what it takes to succeed in the NFL, Burks did exactly what the Titans needed him to do this offseason, adjusting both his diet and training routine and getting into shape for the fall.

Burks spoke to Titans media on Tuesday with a newfound confidence and swagger at the podium.

This time last year, Burks was unable to complete rookie minicamp practices after his asthma flared up. The rookie was no match for the Tennessee heat and the rigorous training regiment that comes with being an NFL player.

But after missing five weeks due to turf toe in the early part of the year, Burks appeared to turn a corner in the second half of the season. While recovering from his injury, the former Arkansas Razorbacks star made an adjustment that led to big performances against Green Bay and Cincinnati.

Going into his sophomore season, Burks is not making the same mistakes twice.

"My biggest thing was not repeating what I did last year coming into the offseason,"  Burks said on Tuesday. "I feel great. Running fast, not having any problems with breathing, and really just having fun, man. I'm in a good place, state of mind, and I'm just thankful."

The former 18th overall pick has spent his entire offseason in Nashville working closely with the Titans' strength and conditioning staff to keep his asthma under control and get a head start on his daily routine.

"I've been here the whole offseason," Burks told the media. "I didn't go train at the beach or anything. I stayed here. I wanted to stay around the facility and just bond and make a connection with the coaches, but also just get ahead on the things that I know that I'm going to be doing in the offseason."

"That's why I've been here," said Burks when asked about managing his asthma. "Just making sure that I'm running in the heat. When I do get that feeling, I know how to control it now."

Burks added that halfway through the 2022 season (right around the time of his breakout performances) he made a change in his diet. Eating better allowed him to stay on the field longer and make less mistakes as a result of being tired. Those habits are continuing into 2023.

Everything the Titans needed Burks to do this offseason, he has done. He's in excellent shape, he's running fast, and he's breathing well. He has put in the time to get familiar with his coaches, teammates, and Tennessee's new offense. He is walking around the building with confidence and looking to assist the incoming rookie class on "not making the same mistakes he did" as a rookie.

Treylon Burks is transforming into a leader and a number one wide receiver right before our eyes. There is a humble confidence in Burks' demeanor that is a complete 180 from the deer in headlights I saw 12 months ago.

I've never had doubt about Burks' athletic ceiling with a clean bill of health, and hearing about how Burks "feels faster" ahead of OTAs gives me a lot of confidence that 2023 can be the highly anticipated Treylon Burks breakout season. On a Titans roster that is in desperate need of a number one option, the impact that would have cannot be understated.
