Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning was asked this week about former UT quarterback Josh Dobbs and his recent performance with the Tennessee Titans.
Dobbs, who played at Tennessee from 2013 to 2016, started the final two games of the 2022 season for the Titans. It was the first two starts of Dobbs' NFL career.
Peyton, who was in Las Vegas this past week for the Pro Bowl, was asked by TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt about Dobbs' performance in those final two games.
"Very impressed," said Manning when asked about Dobbs. "I saw Josh at the Tennessee/Georgia game — we were on the sideline together, so I got to visit with him then. And then a couple of weeks later he is playing for the Titans."
"I thought he played really well, considering the short week and that's a real credit to him, how smart he is," added Manning. "He has a great appreciation for the cerebral part of the game."
Dobbs wasn't able to lead the Titans to a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the final game of the season (which would've sent Tennessee to the playoffs), but that had more to do with poor offensive line play. Only having a couple of weeks to digest the Titans' offense didn't help, either (Dobbs was signed in late December).
For now, it's unclear what kind of role Dobbs will have in Nashville next season. But it's clear he has a fan in Peyton Manning.
