The Tennessee Vols got a much-needed win over the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville, but it wasn't without controversy.

At the end of Tennessee's 46-43 win against Auburn, Tigers guard Wendell Green Jr attempted a three-pointer in the game's final seconds that would've tied the game.

Green missed the shot, but he felt like he was fouled by Vols forward Olivier Nkamhoua.

Here's the play in case you somehow missed it:

There's a lot happening in that play. Nkamhoua appeared to be completely vertical, but there's definitely some contact. However, it looks like Green was trying to create the contact (which is not unusual for any player in that situation with the game on the line). Green also wrapped his legs around Nkamhoua which made the play look a bit more dramatic than it really was.

Auburn was called for a technical foul for "flopping" earlier in the game, so that could've been why the Tigers didn't get the benefit of the doubt on a subjective call.

After the game, Green sent a tweet addressing the controversial play.

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl insinuated after the game that the officials were affected by the gameday atmosphere in Knoxville.

Pearl completely ignored that Tennessee's Uros Plavsic was given a technical foul for gesturing that an Auburn player was "too short". But when Green made the same gesture toward Vols guard Zakai Zeigler later in the game, there was no technical foul given to the Tigers.

Officiating can be inconsistent at times. But a lot of times it equals out in the end.

Regardless, the Vols had plenty of reasons to be upset on Saturday, too. Auburn's complaint, which may or may not be valid, just happened to come during the game's final play, which means it's going to receive considerably more attention than some of Tennessee's complaints.

Ultimately, though, all that matters for the Vols is that they got a win in what was otherwise an ugly game for both teams.
