Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders — aka Coach Prime — is trying to steal one of the Tennessee Vols' top 2024 recruiting targets.
2024 four-star athlete Boo Carter was described earlier this week by recruiting analyst Mike Farrell as "as close to a Tennessee commit as they get without announcing it".
Sanders, however, is hoping to change that.
Carter is reportedly heading to Boulder this weekend to visit Colorado.
Carter's visit to Colorado comes after Sanders called the Chattanooga native recently with a clear message:
"We comin'. We comin' to get ya. Whenever I call, you know you're something special," said Sanders to Carter (via VolReport.com).
Sanders is already experiencing some significant recruiting success at Colorado. While I still think Carter ends up at Tennessee, it should be concerning that Sanders and Colorado are in the mix.
Coach Prime is persuasive — he's made for recruiting. And NIL could always be a factor, too (though that might work in Tennessee's favor considering UT's strong NIL efforts).
There's a long way to go in the battle for Carter, and a lot could change in the coming months, but I think it's at least a little worrisome that Sanders has identified Carter as a player that he wants in Boulder.
