Former Tennessee Vols EDGE James Pearce, a first round selection by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2025 NFL Draft, was arrested in February after allegedly ramming his vehicle into ex-girlfriend Rickea Jackson’s vehicle.

According to multiple reports, Pearce fled the scene of the alleged domestic dispute that involved Jackson, a former Lady Vols star.

According to ESPN, Pearce allegedly crashed his white Lamborghini SUV into Jackson’s car. ESPN also reported that Pearce allegedly struck a police officer with his vehicle as he was evading arrest.

Jackson told police that when she stopped her car at a red light, Pearce got out of his vehicle and attempted to open her driver’s side door.

“Jackson accelerated away and started driving toward the Doral (Florida) Police Department,” ESPN’s Marc Raimondi reported. “Pearce reentered his vehicle and continued following her. During the drive to the police station, Jackson said Pearce “intentionally collided into the rear of her vehicle” with his SUV. As she got to the intersection near the police station, Jackson said Pearce cut her off with his car and when she attempted to back out and get away, he used his car to collide with hers head-on. The affidavit stated that photographs of Jackson’s vehicle showed damage consistent with her account.”

ESPN’s report also confirmed that an officer pulled a gun on Pearce during the arrest.

“According to the affidavit, they saw Pearce standing on the outside of his SUV on the driver’s side with the door open,” Raimondi reported. “An officer pulled a gun on Pearce and ordered him to get on the floor. Pearce got back in his car and closed the door. The officer opened the door, but Pearce shut it again, locked it and drove away.”

As Pearce fled the scene, his vehicle struck an officer in the knee. ESPN’s report states that the affidavit described Pearce striking the officer as “intentionally in an attempt to evade arrest.”

Police then pursued Pearce until his vehicle crashed at an intersection. At that point, Pearce “began to resist arrest by tensing his arms and not allowing officers to apprehend him.”

Jackson told police that she dated Pearce for “about three years”, but that they recently ended their relationship. The former Lady Vol also told police that she blocked Pearce’s phone number, but he continued to text her from different numbers.

Details about James Pearce’s behavior in the weeks and months leading up to his arrest emerge

ESPN reported several new details on Monday about the relationship between Pearce and Jackson.

According to ESPN, “police officers were repeatedly dispatched to a residence in Doral described as the home of Pearce’s on-again, off-again girlfriend between November and the day of Pearce’s arrest.”

From ESPN: On Nov. 24 around 11 p.m., the day after Atlanta played in New Orleans, police responded to a domestic disturbance call in which the woman said Pearce came to her residence, knocked on the door and called a landline “various times,” but that the woman refused to open the door and told him to leave. She claimed Pearce owed her $70,000 and that the debt was the purpose of his visit. Pearce left 20 minutes before police arrived, the report states. The woman called police again four hours later, on Nov. 25, stating her belief that Pearce was “likely going to return to her residence again.” She said Pearce’s father had called her to notify that he was coming. Pearce never arrived, but the report stated the woman did not feel safe and left the residence for the evening. Police again responded to a domestic disturbance call at that address on Jan. 13. The heavily redacted report describes Pearce as being encountered in front of the residence. Police told him to leave with his car and belongings, the report said, adding that he “was advised not to return to the residence.” On Feb. 1, police again responded to a domestic disturbance call. Heavy redactions make it unclear what occurred other than that it appeared to take place inside a garage. The report also claimed “other incidents have occurred outside of the City of Doral jurisdiction,” including a redacted individual claiming Pearce made someone miss a flight and “another disturbance that occurred in an Uber.” A redacted individual also declined to speak with police further. The incident report also stated that the woman, whose name was redacted, “did not wish to report the messages as obscene or harassing at this time.” On Feb. 2, police returned. A security guard told police Pearce had been stalking his client. Police were informed by an individual whose name was redacted that Pearce had been spotted at the home “on multiple occasions over the past several days.”
