ESPN reporter explains why NFL teams view the Tennessee Vols’ upcoming Pro Day as a ‘huge one’ that they have circled
The Tennessee Vols’ upcoming Pro Day is set for March 31.
There will be plenty of NFL teams at the Tennessee Vols’ Pro Day later this month.
Tennessee’s Pro Day is set for March 31, and according to ESPN’s Field Yates, NFL teams view it as a “huge one”.
Why NFL teams have Tennessee’s Pro Day circled
According to Yates, NFL teams have the Vols’ Pro Day circled because they’re anxious to see cornerback Jermod McCoy.
McCoy, who tore his ACL and missed the entire 2025 season, didn’t work out at the combine last month.
“I’m feeling good now,” said McCoy at the combine. “I’m ready to play again, to be honest with you.”
“I just want to make sure I’m putting the best thing out,” added McCoy of his decision to not work out at the combine. “Give me some more training time and do it all at my pro day.”
Longtime NFL insider Todd McShay suggested that McCoy’s decision to not work out at the combine was influenced by his agent.
“I do want to make this point, and it’s not just because Jermod McCoy hasn’t worked out…we’ll see how he works out at Tennessee’s Pro Day, assuming he does,” said McShay. “My gosh, people in the league are so fed up with his agent. And it’s none my business, but it’s the same thing I said to Shemar Stewart last year: They work for you.
“I’m not gonna mention names — his agent is one of the best in the business at representing players. And [he] is a total pain in the ass, and people in the league hate him because he’s a pain in the ass and does a good job by his clients for the most part. But there are some things that occur during the process that I don’t think send a favorable message.”
If McCoy has a great Pro Day, he could solidify his status as a likely top 10 selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
