Georgia Bulldogs legend and SEC Network analyst Matt Stinchcomb isn’t a fan of one of the Tennessee Vols’ uniform combinations.
Stinchcomb, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame who played at Georgia from 1995 to 1998, participated in a segment on SEC Now this week called “Start, Bench, Cut”.
One of the categories was uniform combinations. Stinchcomb chose to start the Ole Miss Rebels’ powder blue uniforms, he benched the Florida Gators’ blue on orange uniforms, and he cut Tennessee’s dark mode uniforms.
Now, before you get upset (if you disagree with Stinchcomb…I’m sure some fans agree with him), it’s worth pointing out that the former Georgia offensive lineman praised Tennessee’s orange and white uniforms.
“There’s no black in Tennessee [colors],” said Stinchcomb. “They’re orange and white — they [have] great looking uniforms. The all black just doesn’t make sense. I’m sure it sells a lot in the bookstore, but I just don’t like it on the field.”
Uniforms are a touchy topic among Vols fans. Some fans think Tennessee should only wear traditional orange and white uniforms. Other fans think the Vols should mix things up even more with some unique uniform combinations.
I’m somewhere in the middle. I like the dark mode uniforms when Tennessee has a primetime home game around Halloween. Otherwise, I think they should stick to the traditional orange and white.
