A former five-star Tennessee Vols recruiting target hinted at entering the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday.
Texas A&M defensive lineman Walter Nolan, the No. 2 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class, posted a photo on his Instagram story with the caption “portal looking good”.
Nolan, who ended his high school playing career at Powell High School (just outside of Knoxville), totaled 29 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a sack as a true freshman for the Aggies this past season.
If Nolan wants to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he’d have to wait until May when the portal reopens.
As is always the case with cryptic messages from players, this could simply be a ploy for more NIL cash, though that’s purely speculation.
Considering the Vols’ pursuit of Nolan during the recruiting process, I’d still say this is a situation worth monitoring.
