A former Tennessee Vols running back is reportedly entering the NCAA transfer portal for a second time.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer, former Vols running back Cam Seldon is planning to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2.
Seldon, a former four-star recruit who signed with Tennessee during the 2023 recruiting cycle, spent the 2025 season at Virginia Tech.
During his two seasons with the Vols, Seldon rushed for 224 yards and one touchdown.
Cam Seldon moved to wide receiver at Virginia Tech in 2025
After arriving at Virginia Tech last winter, Seldon quickly moved to wide receiver.
The Virginia native caught 23 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns with the Hokies in 2025. Seldon, who returned kicks for Virginia Tech, also rushed for 28 yards on just seven carries.
Before the 2025 season, then-Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry suggested that Seldon could play a Deebo Samuel-type role for the Hokies.
“I’ve been pleasantly surprised,” said Pry last spring when asked about Seldon. “He catches the ball more naturally than I anticipated. He’s got really good speed. He’s got a great build. He’s got really good work ethic. To this point, with four practices in the winter program, he’s everything that I hoped he’d be.”
“I think he’s got the ability to do that (a Deebo Samuel role),” added Pry. “Are we able to do that with our offense and with the personnel we have? We’ll see. But based on his running back background, he’s good with the ball in his hands after the catch.”
Seldon has one season of eligibility remaining.
