Matthews, 6-foot-2/182 lbs from Baton Rouge, LA, signed with Tennessee as a four-star recruit. He was rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 18 cornerback in the nation and the No. 157 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.
The Louisiana native didn't see a lot of action during his time on Rocky Top, totaling four tackles and two passes defensed between the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Matthews will compete against his former Vols teammates when he returns to Tennessee on November 29, 2025 for the UT vs Vanderbilt matchup.
