Tennessee Vols forward Dalton Knecht could be a high selection in the 2024 NBA Draft in a few weeks.
The latest NBA mock draft from CBS Sports, in fact, has Knecht going to the Detroit Pistons with the No. 5 overall pick.
From CBS Sports: The Pistons are picking at No. 5 for the third straight draft and selecting in the top 10 for a fifth consecutive year. Is there really an appetite for some long-term developmental play? Knecht is 23 and continued to elevate his game as he progressed from junior college to Northern Colorado and finally to Tennessee. He averaged 25.5 points on 42.4% 3-point shooting against SEC competition for the Volunteers and is a true three-way scorer who is ready to get buckets in the league as a rookie.
This is the highest that Knecht has gone in recent NBA mock drafts. Most mocks seem to have him in the No. 10 to No. 15 range.
Knecht, though, proved to be an elite scorer for the Vols last season. And while there are questions about his age and his defense, it's clear that he can score against top competition. Combine his efficiency with his size (6-foot-6) and it's easy to see how a team could be tempted to select the former Vol in the top five.
The 2024 NBA Draft is set to get underway on June 26.
