A former Tennessee Vols starting offensive lineman will be playing pro football in Mexico.

The Reyes de Jalisco of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) announced this week that they’ve signed former Vols offensive lineman Javontez Spraggins.

Spraggins, an East St. Louis native, played at Tennessee from 2020 to 2024. He started 48 games at right guard for the Volunteers during his career on Rocky Top.

The Reyes de Jalisco are based in Zapopan, Mexico. Former Tennessee defensive lineman Emmit Gooden is listed on their roster.

It’s a bit surprising that Spraggins hasn’t managed to latch on with an NFL team considering his extensive SEC starting experience.

Spraggins, however, is still young — he turns 24 in May — so maybe he can parlay his opportunity in the LFA into a chance with an NFL team.
