A former Tennessee Vols basketball standout landed with a new program on Wednesday.

Former Vols forward Olivier Nkamhoua entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this spring after averaging 10.8 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game for the Vols this past season.

Nkamhoua removed his name from the NBA Draft on May 31 after not receiving an invite to the draft combine.

On Wednesday, Nkamhoua committed to Michigan.

Transferring was never actually the plan for the former Finland native. After he entered the portal, Vols head coach Rick Barnes told reporters that Nkamhoua was working toward becoming a professional athlete next season.

“He told us that his dad wanted him to put his name in the portal, which is a decision they have to make,” said Barnes earlier this spring. “From day one, our conversation with him has been that his ultimate goal was to try and put himself in a position to be a professional athlete next year.”

After not receiving an invite to the combine, it was clear to Nkamhoua that the NBA would have to wait a year. So he'll head to Ann Arbor for a fresh start while looking to improve his NBA draft stock.
