Former Heisman Trophy winner drops strong take on Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell’s future in the NFL
Opinions are very mixed on where former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell will be selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. A former Heisman Trophy winner, however, is confident that Brazzell will be successful in the NFL.
Opinions are mixed on where Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell will be selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
A recent mock draft from CBS Sports has Brazzell getting selected by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 35 overall pick (round two).
An ESPN mock draft from earlier this week, however, has Brazzell falling to the bottom of the third round.
The consensus seems to be that Brazzell has an elite size/talent combination, but there are questions about how he’ll fare in the NFL after playing in Tennessee’s offense. (The Vols’ offense has failed to produce a productive NFL wide receiver during the Josh Heupel era.)
Brazzell, though, dismissed those concerns at the NFL combine in February.
“This last year was a completely different offense than what y’all think Tennessee’s offense is,” said Brazzell. “2024 and 2025 were almost two different offenses with Nico (Iamaleava) and Joey (Aguilar). So I was really playing in a more regular, traditional offense this last year versus any other year at Tennessee.”
Former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III is a big fan of Chris Brazzell
Former Heisman Trophy winner and No. 2 overall draft pick Robert Griffin III made it clear this week that he’s a big fan of Brazzell.
Griffin tweeted on Thursday that Brazzell is “going to make any quarterback he plays with very happy”.
RGIII also pointed out that Brazzell has a wide catch radius and makes every route look like a go route “until it’s not”.
There’s definitely a stigma around wide receivers that come from Tennessee’s offense, due to players like Velus Jones Jr, Cedric Tillman, and Jalin Hyatt struggling to break through in the NFL.
Brazzell, however, could be the wide receiver that finally silences that narrative.
