Former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott — a second round selection by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2025 NFL Draft — received some high praise this week from KC veteran linebacker Nick Bolton.

Norman-Lott and rookie defensive end Ashton Gillotte were praised by Bolton for their lack of mental mistakes during OTAs and the way they've picked up the scheme.

"I was super surprised at how smart those guys were," said Bolton of Norman-Lott and Gillotte. "How focused they were, how self-driven they were. I actually got the chance to kind of look at them in the rookie mini-camp they had before we got down here. And I understand, like, conceptually wise, how difficult it is coming from college and playing in a multi-scheme here. So those guys are picking it up, making calls, making reads."

"They're clicking," continued Bolton. "They understand communication, understand concepts, what we want to do, and what we want to present to the quarterback. So they're miles ahead of where I was….those guys have little to no mistakes or mental errors. As you progress, you want to limit mental errors and just play fast. Football is not perfect, but the mental part can be."

Norman-Lott is going to have an opportunity to play a key role early in his career with the Chiefs. And so far, it sounds like he's making the most of his opportunity.

There's a long way to go before the start of the 2025 season. Norman-Lott will need to continue to be consistent during minicamps and training camp. If he is, he should find himself on the field early and often in Steve Spagnuolo's defense in Kansas City.
