The Tennessee Vols finished the 2025 season with an 8-5 record and zero wins over Power-4 teams that finished the season with a winning record.

The Georgia Bulldogs, on the other hand, finished the 2025 season with a 12-2 record, a win in the SEC Championship game, and a College Football Playoff appearance.

One of Georgia’s 12 wins was an overtime victory over Tennessee in Knoxville.

Objectively, it’s pretty easy to see which team had the better season, right?

Obviously it was Georgia.

Unless you happen to be Wisconsin Badgers head coach Luke Fickell.

Luke Fickell ranked Tennessee above Georgia on his final top 25 coaches poll ballot

Fickell, who just wrapped up his third season as the head coach at Wisconsin after six seasons at Cincinnati, didn’t include Georgia on his final top 25 coaches poll ballot.

He didn’t include the Vanderbilt Commodores, either.

Fickell did, however, include Tennessee, ranking the Vols at No. 2o despite their loss to Illinois in the Music City Bowl to end the season.

I don’t know if that was an oversight by Fickell, if someone else filled out his ballot, or if he genuinely believes that Tennessee should be ranked ahead of Georgia and Vanderbilt.

Either way, his name is on it. And he ranked the Vols above the Bulldogs and the Commodores. Those are facts that can’t be debated.

Who knows, maybe Fickell still isn’t over Cincinnati’s loss to Georgia in the 2020 Peach Bowl.
