Recently signed New York Giants QB Russell Wilson already has some thoughts on playing with former Tennessee WR Jalin Hyatt

Russell Wilson might be just what former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt needs to have a breakout season in the NFL.

Hyatt, a third round selection by the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, didn't see much action in 2024, catching just eight passes for 62 yards on 19 targets.

Part of the reason that Hyatt didn't have more success is because of his standing on the depth chart. The other reason is because the Giants' quarterback situation was a disaster last season.

The second part of that problem may have been solved this week with New York's decision to sign Wilson, a 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback.

Wilson met with reporters on Wednesday after signing a one-year deal with the Giants and he mentioned that he thinks Hyatt is "untapped" in terms of what he can do on the football field.

"I talked to Jalin Hyatt today a little bit, too," said Wilson at his introductory press conference. "I just think he's a guy that's been untapped in terms of what he knows he's capable of."

Wilson is known for throwing one of the best deep balls in the NFL over the last dozen years. And one of Hyatt's biggest assets is his ability to stretch the field (just ask Nick Saban about that)

There are still questions about how many opportunities Hyatt will receive with wide receiver Darius Slayton set to return to the Giants on a new three-year deal. The addition of Wilson, however, could open up some different concepts in the passing game that New York head coach Brian Daboll can utilize. And perhaps that will translate to more opportunities for Hyatt in 2025.
