Joe Milton is looking to turn the number 7 into special one in 2023 for Tennessee football. In the meantime, he's using that number to help deliver some tasty eats to Vol fans.
Milton announced on his Instagram on Friday that he's signed a NIL deal with McDonald's in select areas in the Crossville and Cookeville areas. The deal, which is known as the "Milton Meal" is available for $7 and includes a Big Mac, medium fries, large sweet tea, and sweet and sour sauce.
The deal is with the Funderburk McDonald's, who reportedly owned and operated 21 McDonald's restaurants as of 2019, so the potential for growth beyond these areas is certainly possible. And why not? Milton's name and hype is as hot as any in the country right now.
This also, in a way, serves to change the public perception between Tennessee and McDonalds. After radio host Dan Patrick started the rumor in January 2021 that Jeremy Pruitt's staff was putting money into McDonald's bags and giving it to recruits, that was accepted as fact by many opposing fans, who ripped on the Vols for such a move. As it turns out, upon review of the investigation report in 2022, that wasn't true. However, that didn't end the snarky comments among UT's rivals.
Now, as the leader of the #9 team in the country coming off an 11-2 season, many of those fans are a lot quieter when Milton tells UT fans to "secure the bag". And it serves as a sign that the Vols are past a rough period in their recent history and moving ahead with an exciting player leading the way.
