The Tennessee Vols missed on a defensive transfer target on Wednesday that some folks believed was destined for Rocky Top.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Troy transfer cornerback Jaquez White committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies on Wednesday.

White visited Tennessee earlier this week.

Where does Tennessee turn now?

The Vols need a transfer cornerback with Rickey Gibson III set to enter the portal.

Penn State transfer cornerback AJ Harris would’ve made sense for the Vols, given his previous experience in Tennessee defensive coordinator Jim Knowles’ defense (Harris played under Knowles at Penn State in 2025). However, the Vols aren’t among Harris’ final schools.

Auburn transfer cornerback Kayin Lee is reportedly visiting Tennessee on Wednesday. He could be a viable cornerback option for the Vols.

Lee, a former four-star recruit from Ellenwood, GA, has totaled 82 tackles, 17 passes defensed, and three interceptions during his three seasons at Auburn. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
