Tennessee Vols 5-star transfer is joining forces with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers
The Tennessee Vols lost a talented defender to the LSU Tigers on Friday.
New LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin will have a former Tennessee Vols player by his side when he takes the field at Neyland Stadium next fall.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Vols transfer EDGE Jordan Ross signed with LSU on Friday.
Ross is a former five-star recruit who signed with the Vols during the 2024 recruiting cycle. He was rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 EDGE in 2024 recruiting class. The Alabama native totaled 26 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble during his two seasons with the Volunteers. Ross has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Tennessee will host LSU on November 21, 2026 (the Vols’ final home game of the 2026 season).
Alabama was also in the mix for Jordan Ross
Alabama was quickly mentioned as a potential landing spot when Ross first entered the transfer portal. But, Ross may still feel disrespected by the fact that Alabama didn’t really recruit him out of high school.
“They didn’t really recruit me that well to be honest,” said Ross before playing Alabama earlier this season. “I remember I got a Tennessee offer, it was probably like my fifth or sixth offer. But they (Alabama) didn’t really recruit me. They were, like, one of my last offers. I went up there for a camp and that was about it.”
Whatever the reason, Ross chose LSU and he’ll face some of his old Tennessee teammates next season.
The Vols, meanwhile, desperately need to add some transfer EDGE help after losing Ross and junior Caleb Herring to the portal.
