‘They didn’t really recruit me that well’ – Vols player and former 5-star grew up near Tuscaloosa, but wasn’t recruited ‘well’ by Alabama
Tennessee Vols edge rusher Jordan Ross wasn’t really recruited by the Alabama Crimson Tide despite the fact that he grew up near Tuscaloosa.
A key Tennessee Vols defender who grew up near Tuscaloosa wasn’t recruited “that well” by the Alabama Crimson Tide, despite being a five-star recruit.
Sophomore defensive lineman Jordan Ross joined the Food City Locker Room this week ahead of the Vols’ upcoming matchup against Alabama.
Ross, who was rated as the No. 9 overall recruit in the nation in the 2024 class by 247Sports, told show co-host (and former UT wide receiver) Jayson Swain that the Crimson Tide didn’t recruit him very well.
“They didn’t really recruit me that well to be honest,” said Ross, who is from Birmingham (about 45 minutes from Tuscaloosa). “I remember I got a Tennessee offer, it was probably like my fifth or sixth offer. But they (Alabama) didn’t really recruit me. They were, like, one of my last offers. I went up there for a camp and that was about it.”
Ross signed with Tennessee a couple of weeks before Nick Saban resigned as Alabama’s head coach.
Jordan Ross is coming off of one of his best games at Tennessee
Ross had a huge game in the Vols’ win against Arkansas this past Saturday.
The Alabama native totaled two tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in the 34 to 31 win over the Razorbacks.
Ross should have plenty of motivation to “make it personal” against the Crimson Tide as the Tennessee edge rusher will play his first college game in his home state next Saturday night.
