The Tennessee Vols have reportedly added some depth at a key position.

GoVols247 pointed out on Tuesday evening that tight end Cody Duncan recently transferred to Tennessee from Virginia Tech as a preferred walk-on.

Duncan, a Knoxville native, is the older brother of 2023 three-star Vols signee Trevor Duncan (he could play on the offensive line or the defensive line).

Tennessee only has three scholarship tight ends — Jacob Warren, transfer McCallan Castles, and 2023 signee Ethan Davis. Duncan, who had scholarship offers out of high school from UT-Martin and Eastern Illinois (among a few others), will provide some much-needed depth in the tight end room.

Warren, who is also from Knoxville, actually has a previous connection to Duncan.

During an appearance on "Off the Hook Sports" earlier this week, Warren talked about Duncan joining the program.

"Cody's great, I think it's cool because somehow, someway, my oldest brother knows him and knows his brother, knows his mom, through the YMCA which is where my brother works," said Warren. "So I've known about Cody, I've heard about Cody and knew he was coming in. It's cool because it feels like we've known each other for a while. So he's super comfortable around all the guys. Just excited to get going with him and compete alongside him."

It's always nice to see local kids suiting up for Tennessee. It's even better when brothers get to wear the Orange and White together. The older Duncan should have a chance to compete on special teams and provide depth at tight end, while the younger Duncan has a chance to become a key player in the trenches for the Vols.
