The Tennessee Vols are one of the final three schools for a transfer wide receiver who previously played for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Florida State Seminoles wide receiver Malik Benson, a former four-star recruit, is down to Oregon, Kansas State, and Tennessee.
Benson started his career at Hutchinson Community College before signing with Alabama in late 2022.
The Kansas native spent one season at Alabama before transferring to Florida State ahead of the 2024 season.
Benson has 38 receptions for 473 yards and two touchdowns over the last two seasons. He caught 25 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown this past season while playing for a Florida State team that won only two games.
Current Vols tight end Miles Kitselman was teammates with Benson at Hutchinson Community College in 2021.
If the Vols end up landing Benson, he'd likely serve as a depth wide receiver for the program as it's unlikely that he would pass Mike Matthews, Braylon Staley, and Chris Brazzell on the Vols' depth chart. Tennessee is also expected to use defensive back Boo Carter in a wide receiver role on offense in 2025.
