The Tennessee Vols are among 10 teams still in the mix for four-star athlete Xavian Sorey Jr.
Sorey, 6-foot-3/214 lbs from Graceville, FL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 outside linebacker in the nation and the No. 10 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.
247Sports director of scouting Barton Simmons describes Sorey as a "power 5 prospect with early round NFL Draft potential". Simmons also noted that Sorey has the "ability to track and make plays on the football in coverage".
The Florida native, who could also play running back at the next level, told Rivals in January that playing close to home would be nice. That's one of the main reasons that Florida State is one of the top teams to beat for Sorey.
It could be hard for the Vols to beat out Florida State, or a program like LSU, for Sorey.
But if Tennessee can get him on campus and let inside linebackers coach Brian Niedermeyer work his magic, it's certainly possible the Vols could land the dynamic athlete.
