Tennessee Vols lose multiple transfer quarterback options on the same day
The Tennessee Vols will continue their search for a transfer quarterback.
The Tennessee Vols’ search for a transfer quarterback will continue beyond Monday.
Tennessee is looking for a transfer quarterback to pair with true freshman George MacIntyre and incoming five-star signee Faizon Brandon.
Two of the Vols’ options went off the board on Monday.
Tennessee sees two transfer quarterback options disappear in the same day
Tennessee’s top target was Arizona State transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt.
Leavitt visited LSU, Tennessee, and Miami last week. After going home to consider his options on Sunday, Leavitt committed to LSU on Monday morning.
Tennessee, however, made a late charge on Monday afternoon at Leavitt, reportedly upping their offer to the transfer quarterback.
Leavitt, though, finally signed with LSU on Monday evening.
Not long after Leavitt officially signed with LSU, Missouri transfer quarterback Beau Pribula committed to Virginia.
Tennessee hosted Pribula on a visit following Leavitt’s trip to Rocky Top.
It’s unclear how high the Vols were on Pribula, but he likely would’ve had to compete with MacIntyre and Brandon for the starting job had he landed with Tennessee.
Instead, the Vols will continue to look for a transfer quarterback. While the high-profile names are off the board (unless Tennessee can somehow convince Ty Simpson to withdraw from the NFL Draft), there are still some quality options available that could make sense for the Vols, such as Western Carolina transfer quarterback Taron Dickens.
We’ll see who Tennessee shows interest in over the next few days and then go from there.
